Steps:

This document contains the information of how to perform restore for your Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.

Restoring information store (server level):

Restore to “Original location”:

In the AhsayOBM user interface, select restore to “Original location”.

This restore option will automatically restore the Exchange 2010 database based on the selected snapshot from AhsayOBS. The restore to “Original location” option will involve:

1. Restoring the selected snapshot from AhsayOBS and merging any incremental/differential delta file.
2. Databases and transaction logs files are restored, AhsayOBM will then automatically dismount the MS Exchange 2010 datastore.
3. Copy the restored database and transaction log files to the production MS Exchange 2010 folders overwriting the existing database files.
4. Once the databases have been recovered, AhsayOBM will mount the Exchange 2010 datastore.

Restore to “Alternate location”:
The following assumptions are made:

1. In the AhsayOBM user interface, select the restore to “Alternate location”.
   
2. Execute the ExchangeRestore2010.exe utility found in: ${Install-Home}\bin folder.

   This restore option will involve using AhsayOBM to restore the select snapshot from AhsayOBS to an “Alternate location”, for example “D:\Restore”.

   Notes:
   The components.xml and writers.xml file must be restored.

3. After restoring the selected snapshot from AhsayOBS to the restore destination, open a command prompt and enter the command:

   >cd ${Install-Home}\bin

4. Start the restore process by executing:

   >ExchangeRestore2010 “D:\Restore”

   The ExchangeRestore2010.exe utility will automatically:

   • Dismount the MS Exchange 2010 datastore
   • Copy the database and transaction log files to the MS Exchange 2010 production folders overwriting the existing database files.
   • Once the databases have been recovered, AhsayOBM will mount the Exchange 2010 datastore

Restoring individual emails (mail-level):

To restore individual emails to the corresponding Microsoft Exchange 2010 server, you need to utilize the 32bit mode of AhsayOBM. To run AhsayOBM in 32bit mode, please execute the RunOBC32.bat found installation bin folder.

1. Execute the RunOBC32.bat found at: ${OBM-Install-Home}\bin\RunOBC32.bat
   
2. In the AhsayOBM user interface, select [Restore]
3. Select the mail-level backup set from which you would like files to be restored from the list
4. Select the items you want to restore
   
5. Press the [Start Restore] button to restore
